Meet My Kitties

It has been  very tough year for my fur babies and me.  Daphne, my black beauty, Magic Merlin, Sweet Tortie Olive and Josephine, my darling signature kitty all became ill. They all passed away in my arms; not a good year at all!

Kitties that have touched my life; they have passed on.

Kitties that have touched my life; they have passed on.

Since then, I have adopted more kitties into the fold, one stray has adopted me….

Holly...who adopted who? or whom??

Holly…the Christmas Kitty

I had been feeding a few strays during the winter months; Holly was one of those strays who randomly showed up to the Gaby Buffet. I went away for a long weekend and when I arrived home, Holly was in the driveway “yelling” at me. She was cold and hungry. I let her into the breezeway, set-up a bed, food and water and went to bed. The next morning I opened the door…you know the saying “if you set them free…..yada yada yada”, well, she decided to walk out the door and then high tailed it back into the breezeway;  she hasn’t left since that frigid December day. Of course, she lives in comfort with me and the other kitties.

Pablo 'Picatzo'

Pablo ‘Picatzo’

Next came Pablo, I adopted him from the humane society. He started out having ‘fading kitten syndrome’; I had to google that….the kitten is taken away from his mother too early and can not process food well, causing extreme diarrhea which leads to dehydration and if not treated, death. So, after many trips to the vet, fluid boluses and probiotics, I was left with this beautiful, healthy, loving boy.

Ziggy , appropriately named...a card to be dealt with!

Ziggy was also adopted from the humane society; he’s a bundle of joy, energy and vinegar! He is buds with Pablo, who is very nurturing to all of the kitties in my caboodle. He likes to help me sew too!

Violet, the ying to Ziggy's yang!

Violet, the Ying to Ziggy’s Yang!

I adopted Violet on the same day that I brought Ziggy home. They are not litter mates, but they are 2 weeks apart. Violet, is very sweet and she also saw her share of the vet when she first came home; she had an upper respiratory infection that affected her eyes.  She became my ‘burrito-kitty’ during eye drop administration….needless to say, she stays her distance when she sees the cat carrier out! She enjoys hanging out with Pablo and Ziggy.

Harley – the big DUDE

There is not much to say about Harley, except that he is such a love Muffin! He’s buds with Storm (the brown tiger) and Daphne (the black cutie)

***********************************

Storm – originally called Ivan after the storm.

Storm is aptly named; he runs around the house ‘shrilling’ (really loud). He’s also not allowed to sleep in my clothes on the closet shelf; you can see how well that works out! I adopted him around the time tropical storm IVAN was reeking havoc, and actually called him Ivan. I had to change his name to Storm, because whenever I called him, Olive would come running. So, I thought that perhaps the names were too similar? or perhaps Olive just wanted the attention, either way, Storm it is!

All in all, I have a happy household of kitties. They are well loved, well taken care of  and very spoiled!

  3. Gaby, I am trying to contact you about a cat we found. I have bought several purses off you and in talking know that you do alot with pets. Please contact me at tiamarieconrad@hotmail.com I am so hoping you can help me with this need! Thank you!

  4. Hi Tia,
We have already discussed several options, via e-mail, to try to find a home for your found kitty. I thought I would respond here as well; the information may be beneficial to others. I would contact my local Humane Society first. They may have room to take your furry orphan. If your area does not have a Humane Society; I would contact local Veterinarians, large pet stores, such as Pet Land, Pet Smart or Pet Supply and ask them if they can provide any information on rescue / stray groups. Some of theses stores sponsor adoption days with these groups. Some Vets may take the kitty too. I hope this helps. Good Luck. Gaby
